Christmas Fayre Volunteers

The Twyford Christmas Fayre is organised by a group of volunteers, who meet throughout the year to plan and manage the event. It's a very informal group and meetings usually take place in members' houses. Meetings are usually an hour long and occur five-six times a year, mainly in the Autumn leading up to the event. Volunteers are required to help organise stalls, promote the event and help on the night. It's all good fun, very friendly and raises money for charity and Twyford Together.

Adopt A Street Scheme

A group of volunteers are supplementing the efforts of the Borough Council to keep our streets clear of litter by adopting a road or two near where we live.  Why not join us? Twyford Together can supply litter pickers and special plastic bags and you can chose to go out whenever is most convenient for yourself.  You and your neighbours will have the satisfaction of looking out on a clean street and also deterring the culprits from dropping so much litter.

Gardening

Have you noticed how colourful the gardens at Jubilee Corner are looking these days?  The new planting has been designed to encourage butterflies and bees and a group of Twyford Together volunteers meets about four times a year to maintain these gardens.  Please contact us if you would like to get involved.  We also need occasional help with tidying up Bell Corner and its new planter.

Drivers to Escort the Elderly

Volunteers looking for a way to help the community in Twyford can sign up to become a driver for the elderly. The Twyford and District Volunteers group is appealing for drivers to take the elderly and those without transport to hospitals, doctors surgeries, day centres and other facilities. Drivers are not committed to a regular time each week and can turn down requests when they are unavailable. The volunteers operate during the daytime from Mondays to Fridays and usually have three to four days’ notice of a job. Petrol costs are reimbursed on a fixed scale.
